Trauma Surgery

Every day of the year, the HackensackUMC Orthopaedic Institute Trauma Surgery team provides round-the-clock, state-of-the-art care for all orthopaedic-related traumatic injuries. The team has extensive experience treating fractures, and other musculoskeletal injuries such as ligament or tendon tears and joint dislocations.
Trauma cases are often complicated, and treating them requires quick thinking that is based on a core of deep knowledge and extensive experience. Our surgeons are experts in assessing a case and making decisions about the right treatment approach for patients who are seriously injured. As part of the on-call trauma team, we work collaboratively with the general surgery, hand surgery, spine surgery, and neurosurgery trauma teams to address the medical and surgical needs of trauma victims. More than 2,000 patients are seen every year by the Trauma Surgery team.

Some of the conditions we treat include:

  • Hip, ankle, and wrist fractures
  • Industrial or workplace accidents
  • Open fractures
  • Pediatric fractures or trauma
  • Periprosthetic fractures
  • Periarticular fractures
  • Polytrauma
HackensackUMC is a designated* level II Trauma Center—and the only trauma center in Bergen County.
